Abstract
This talk will present two studies that bring together my long-standing interest in feedback seeking as a strategy for enhancing personal effectiveness and my more recent fascination with leadership as it is exercised within and outside of positions of authority. The first study looks at feedback seeking as an interpersonal process CEOs can use to create conditions that promote firm performance. The second looks at how our cognitive representations of leadership and our interpersonal reinforcement of those cognitions in our reactions to others promote or deter more leadership in more places. I look forward to interacting with the ICOS community about these ideas.
