The Likert Paper Award

The 2025 Likert Paper Award is now open for submissions!

Every two years since 1997-1998, ICOS has hosted a competition for the Likert Dissertation Paper Award. This award is given to the author of a paper based on a Michigan dissertation that makes the most significant contribution to organizational studies. The Likert Dissertation Award is a gift of the Foundation for Research on Human Behavior, a foundation created by the late Rensis Likert. The gift is intended to honor and encourage the scholarly publication of the dissertation research of recent University of Michigan graduates in organizational studies.

Eligibility

To be eligible, an entrant must have (1) received their degree at Michigan by September 1, 2024, and (2) have participated in an ICOS dissertation poster session. The deadline for the competition will be Monday, February 17th, 2025. The paper can be published or unpublished and can be of any length. The one requirement is that the paper be a direct product of the dissertation.

To enter, submit your paper via email to Rachel Grimes (grimesr@umich.edu) by Monday, February 17th, 2025.

Prize

The winner of the Likert Dissertation Paper Award will present the prize paper at ICOS on April 14th, 2023. The prize includes a $2,000 award and travel expenses to come to Ann Arbor.
