Abstract

This panel will feature five entrepreneurs working to grow Detroit’s local food economy. Through their stories, we’ll explore the emergence of locally-owned, human-scale food businesses in Detroit and specifically how these businesses relate to the good food movement and to a growing grassroots movement for re-building localized, human-scale economies. The focus will be less on the individual businesses, and more on how businesses build relationships both to benefit their individual business and to grow the overall field: “me” capital versus “we” capital.
