Julian Barling holds the Borden Chair of Leadership in the Smith School of Business, and is the author of The science of leadership: Lessons from research for organizational. Julian is also editor of the 2016 book Work and Sleep: Research insights for the workplace. Julian’s research focuses primarily on the development of transformational leadership, and leaders’ own mental health. Julian is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and several other international societies. Julian has received several teaching awards, including the National Post “Leaders in Business
Education” award in 2001, and in 2008, the Queen’s University’s Award for Excellence in
Graduate Student Supervision. Julian also received the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award from the Canadian Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology in 2016.
